from £385

This delightful short break not only gives you a chance to view the thousands of acres of magnificent flowering bulbs, but also includes a visit to the incredible Keukenhof Gardens, a truly wonderful experience for flower lovers and gardeners alike – the Gardens cover some 60 acres of floral displays in a magnificent landscaped setting. With over 7 million bulbs planted each year it really is a sight to behold - this overwhelming display of colour will have you reaching for your camera!

To see even more of Holland we have also included a full day “Delights of Amsterdam” excursion. In Amsterdam the atmosphere of Old Holland is never far away but here too is the modern Amsterdam, a thriving city of department stores, interesting and unusual shops and quaint, canal-side pubs and cafes. Not forgetting the Rijksmuseum where some of Rembrandt’s most famous works are displayed and the evocative Anne Frank’s house where she wrote her famous diary during the Occupation. There will also be an opportunity to take an optional Amsterdam canal sightseeing cruise – undoubtedly the easiest and most relaxing way to see the city.

This short break holiday has been arranged with comfort and enjoyment in mind. The itinerary in Holland is leisurely, with both excursions within easy distance of our hotel.

Excursions & Itinerary

Day 1

We leave in the morning from selected local departure points and travel by coach to Dover, where we take the early afternoon ferry for the short crossing to Calais in France. From here we continue our journey across Belgium and into Holland, arriving at our hotel in the early evening.

Day 2

Today we have included a full day visit to Amsterdam. Amongst Amsterdam's tiny canals and narrow bridges lives a city of flowers, which is renowned for its friendly people, clogs and bicycles. When we arrive in the city we'll arrange an optional ‘Amsterdam Canal Cruise', which takes in many of the city's famous sights - all seen from a unique perspective. After the cruise there will be plenty of free time for more sightseeing or shopping. The Museum Square is home to two of the most famous museums in the city, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. There’s also Anne Frank’s house and the Royal Palace in Damm Square. The two main shopping streets in Amsterdam’s city centre are the Kalverstraat and the Leidsestraat, with a great choice from department stores to tiny boutiques and souvenir shops.

Day 3

Following breakfast we devote the entire day to the beautiful Bulbfields of Holland! We travel first to the famous Keukenhof Gardens. We'll spend the morning here, giving plenty of time for strolling at leisure through the gardens, greenhouses and set pieces (entrance ticket included). When you are ready for a drink or something to eat, there are several restaurants and cafes in the Gardens. This afternoon we continue our journey along the 'Tulip Road', through the gorgeous bulbfields where you will be amazed at a seemingly endless sea of flowers, stretching as far as the eye can see in a breathtaking horticultural display. After a day filled with colourful memories we return to our hotel.

Day 4

We leave our hotel after breakfast and make our way to Calais for the early afternoon crossing to Dover. After disembarking we continue back to our original departure points, arriving home later in the day after what will surely have been an enjoyable short holiday to see the Best of the Dutch Bulbfields, Holland and Amsterdam.
