Excursions & Itinerary

Hotel Krone - Excursion programme

Day 1 - Fly to Munich or Innsbruck

On arrival at the airport you will be met and transferred to our hotel, where we stay for seven nights on a half board basis. On arrival you'll have time to settle in before dinner.

Days 2 to 7

During our festive holiday we have included four excursions; to Kufstein, Seefeld, Innsbruck, and a half day excursion to Kitzbuhel.

Kufstein

Kufstein lights up for Christmas and the decorations attract visitors from all over the Tyrol–when the old town with its Christmas market and the fortress are delightfully transformed. Take the panorama cable car (payable locally) up to the fortress, which dates back to the 13th century, and which now houses a museum of local history and the Heroes Organ.

Christmas Eve - Torchlight Walk

Today is at leisure - perhaps take a cable car up to the heights, or simply relax in the comfortable surroundings of the hotel. Later this afternoon experience the magic of the holiday season with a torchlight walk through the village, in the company of our hosts. This evening, enjoy an authentic Austrian Christmas dinner and later this evening, you may wish to join the local congregation for the church service.

Christmas Day - Seefeld

Happy Christmas! After a hearty breakfast there will be plenty of time to open your presents. A little later today we visit nearby Seefeld. Seefeld is bigger than other mountainside villages and has lots of character, with its pastel-coloured buildings. Spend time window-shopping at the designer boutiques and jewellers in this well known ski resort, which has twice hosted the winter Olympics, or perhaps pause for a hot chocolate and a spot of lunch at one of the many cafés here. This evening a Christmas turkey dinner will be served.

Boxing Day - Kitzbuhel

Kitzbuhel, which is surrounded by the Kitzbuhler Alps in the east of the Tyrol. Like Seefeld, Kitzbuhel is a famous winter ski resort, known for the legendary Hahnenkamm ski races, but the town has a lot more to offer. The centre is characterized by stylish, colourful facades and cobblestone streets. Take a stroll through the pedestrian zone, admire the buidings and perhaps enjoy a hot chocolate and apple strudel in one of the tea rooms.

Innsbruck

Not to be missed is our excursion to Innsbruck - the Tyrolean Capital. We’ll have a guided walking tour around the traffic-free ‘Old Town’, with its beautiful ornate buildings and the unique Golden Roof. Afterwards there will be time to explore the Christmas markets, browse in the shops along the Maria Theresian Strasse or relax in a friendly café.

Horse and Carriage Ride & Tyrolean Musical

As the holiday comes to an end, on our last day in Austria wrap up warm for an exhilarating horse and carriage ride through Götzens, Birgitz and Axams. These three Tyrolean villages are known as the “Pearls of the Low Mountains” because of their beauty and history. Back at the hotel, after dinner there will be a fun-filled Tyrolean Musical Evening.

Day 8 Fly Home

Today we leave our hotel at the appropriate time for the transfer to the airport and the return flight back to the UK.
