Renowned for their stunning scenery and their mild climate, the Balearic Islands lie in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of Spain. Castilian Spanish is universally spoken and their culture and cuisine are typically Mediterranean. Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, is one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. The north coast boasts some of Majorca's most stunning scenery: tiny coves, cliffs that suddenly plunge to the sea, and picturesque medieval villages to wander around. The east coast is a delightful mix of bays, long sweeps of beaches, coves and spectacular caves. The dramatic cliffs edging the Serra de Tramuntana hug the west coast from Andratx all the way up to Cap de Formentor. The interior is a vast plain of farmlands, forests of olive and almond trees, all protected from the Mediterranean winds by the rugged mountains. Add in picturesque peaceful hilltop villages and the stylish capital of Palma with its Gothic cathedral on the south coast, and our superb holiday to Majorca really does have all the ingredients for magical memories.
