Overview

With its picturesque white villages, breathtaking mountains and historic cities, the landscape of Andalucia in southern Spain is instantly recognisable. Although a region of irresistible attraction throughout the centuries, Andalucia isn’t just historical cities and beautiful scenery - it is home to some of the very best food and wine in Spain. The food here is perhaps the most varied of all the regions of Spain, with incomparable cuisine including the world famous ‘tapas’. And where better to sample some of Spain’s finest olive oil than in the olive groves where it is produced.

The resort of Almunecar is our base for this leisurely holiday, ideally situated on the delightful Costa Tropical. Set on the edge of the Mediterranean, with the mountains of the Sierra Nevada forming a stunning backdrop, Almunecar has a relaxing atmosphere. With seven nights here, you can unpack, get comfortable, and enjoy both Almunecar and its surroundings on our easy-paced and well balanced programme of included excursions and visits. To give you a real ‘Taste of Andalucia’, we have also included on this special holiday a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, a tapa lunch, Andalucian ham tasting, wine tasting in a bodega and olive oil tasting in a mill, together with dinner every evening in our hotel. We’ve also included some fabulous sightseeing, with a visit to Granada and the stunning Alhambra Palace, an excursion into the Sierra Nevada mountains, a tour through the La Axarquía region and a walking tour of our village resort. There are also two days at leisure in our resort, giving us plenty of time to take in the local attractions and to perhaps visit the colourful weekly market.
